Yes, I just got fired. This is my first experience of the sort. It all happened so fast — one minute I was receiving the news that I failed the training program, the next I was walking out the door jobless…papers signed and all.

Frankly, I was relieved. I’d been miserable in the position for a while.

I didn’t have the best relationship with my trainer, this job was the biggest learning curve I’d ever taken on, and my tactics for handling the whole experience weren’t ideal.

I knew I was going to fail due to all of these variables approximately 3 weeks before my demise. But I had to stay until they fired me, that was the only way I could apply for unemployment insurance.

By the end of my time with the company, I wasn’t eating, I couldn’t sleep, and I won’t even talk about how many trips to the bathroom I made in a day…and what those trips involved.

Besides having amazing friends and family as a support system, the main reason why I made it through this hell is all thanks to the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a
